EuroLeague’s Wednesday excitement!
Tonight in Belgrade Red Star welcomes Zalgiris in the third round of the EuroLeague. Last year Red Star ended the season in 17th place, and Zalgiris on the other hand ended up in 11th place in EuroLeague. So this season both are hoping to do better, and become part of the playoffs.
Red Star opened this campaign by losing to Fenerbahce (61:56). But in their last game, the Serbian team beat Maccabi Tel Aviv. The match started with better performance by Maccabi in the first quarter (26:21). Then Red Star played better in the second quarter and outscored the Israelis (19:10). The third quarter was a tough one where Maccabi performed better (17:15). But in the last quarter, Red Star dominated the game and outscored Maccabi by 10 points (20:10) and won the duel with a final score of 75:63. So tonight they will definitely do their best to win the second consecutive game and make their fans proud.
Zalgiris Kaunas performs great in the Litvainan championship. But so far they haven’t won any game in the EuroLeague. In the first game of this season, they lost to Lyon-Villeurbanne by 88:76. In their second challenge, they faced Zenit Petersburg and lost the game with a score of 64:70. So tonight they must bring a great approach and hope for a bit of luck in the key moments of the game to win the visiting game in Belgrade.
